Finally! A quilted crown
I’ve been dying to make one of these adorable quilted crowns for ages.
This pattern comes from Suzie Quilts, The Cutting Table subscription
The numbers of children and special occasions for which an adorable handmade crown would be treasured is endless. Think about the obvious; birthdays, Easter, Canada Day, Halloween, Christmas, etc. But, then how about “Big Sister”, or “Big Brother”, or “Best Mommy”, or “Best Daddy” for mother’s and father’s day celebrations. A simple addition of “1”, “2”, “3”, etc., would delight any birthday Princess or Prince.
The possibilities are endless. I guess it’s time to brush up on my sleepy embroidery skills.
Talk about a delightful way to de-stash! I even repurposed a pom-pom chain from a trip to Mexico several years ago.
The pattern uses two rows of hsts (half square triangles), batting, lining fabric, and a couple of 2.25 wide strips for the ties. A template is provided in the pattern.
The HST is one of the most versatile tools in the quilter’s tool belt. It is a simple yet highly useful shape to construct and is used in a myriad of ways. One can make these one, two, and four at a time.
Hand embroidered lettering!
I’ll look foward to making a lot more of these in the future.
